Sport is helping persistent offenders in Bedfordshire kick their crime habit.

The charity Sports Traider has joined up with Bedfordshire Probation Trust to host free football sessions to local offenders.

The sessions aim to introduce team work and promote healthy activity in the community.

The three free football sessions take place tomorrow, December 3 and December 10 at Offa Road Park, Bedford. Offenders can sign up at their local Probation office.

Linda Hennigan, Chief Executive of Bedfordshire Probation Trust, said ???Sport can be an excellent engine of constructive change. It improves people???s well-being and social values which can reduce offending. We want to show offenders that it???s possible to reach natural highs through positive activity.???

Lance Haggith, founder of Sports Traider and winner of the Prime Minister???s Big Society Award, added: ???The free football sessions are part of Sports Traider???s commitment to breaking down barriers to community sport and supports our existing work experience and training programmes for ex-offenders.???
